About Back Country Horsemen

Back country horsemen are concerned men and women dedicated to conserving public lands and protecting equestrians' historic right to use back country trails.  You don't have to ride or even own a horse to be a member, just recognize the need to preserve our heritage and right to ride public lands and be willing to voice your support and work toward preserving this right.  We need help to assure that our "right to ride" is recognized and continues for future generations.

Click here to read the Back Country Horsemen of America Handbook Print it and keep it for future reference.  You will find it full of helpful information and advice on preparing for a ride or pack trip.

SUPPORT: We realize that if we don't not do something NOW to protect our right to use the Chattahoochee/Oconee National Forests and the Cohutta and Rich Mountain Wilderness Areas, our children and grandchildren will never be able to enjoy what we have treasured for so many years.  Support can be provided in many ways, these are just a few:

  • Working on trail maintenance crews

  • Working as an active chapter, state or national officer

  • Working on educational programs

  • Building membership-local and national

  • Writing letters, urging your your senators and congressmen to support the "Right to Ride" legislation

YOUR HELP IS NEEDED.  Please attend an upcoming meeting and see what we're all about.
